A green BakVak uses fuel cell energy
By Susan Wilson
Well fuel cells will be coming out in cars, gadgets, phones and now vacuum cleaners. I don't want to think what fuel cells might be used in next. Could be scary.
Dvice announced this "future technology" vacuum. This vacuum is novel not just for using a fuel cell but for its intended use as a vacuum cleaner that you strap on your back.
The electric motor is obviously powered by a fuel cell but it must also be fairly light if one of the selling points is the ability to wear it. The hand wand has the on/off switch and a fuel cell indicator.
Fuel cells are definitely better than long cords or batteries but the amount of time per ethanol infusion is not mentioned. Nor is the cost of purchasing a vacuum that uses costly fuel cell technology.
Still, it could be worse. It could be a vacuum that uses methane produced from animal and human waste or hydrogen fuel cells. If your BakVak developed a short, you could be wearing a new flying powerpak!
With vacuum designers now starting to get into car manufacturing, it was only a matter of time before car technology, made it into vacuum cleaners.
Who knows, maybe someday we'll have vacuums that also use compost for energy while sucking up dust bunnies.
